Food Friday- Indian Butter Chicken

So next week I promise to make something that doesn't involve just meat and rice.  I had forgotten about this recipe and really wanted to try it.  This was my first attempt at making anything Indian at home, and it turn out very good!  It's definitely a different flavor with the garam masala, but it was delicious and made my house smell amazing.  You can find the original recipe here.  I cut the original recipe in half for 2 people.

Ingredients:
  Chicken
1 Tbs minced fresh ginger
1 Tbs oil
1 Tsp garam masala
1/2 of a 6 oz can tomato paste
1 cups chicken broth
1/4 cup half and half
1  pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 3/4″ chunks
1/2 tsp pepper
salt to taste

Since I don't like onion, I left it out and put my ginger, garam masala, tomato paste, and chicken broth right into the blender until it was smooth.  Now, I had a hard time finding garam masala ( I actually found mine at an organic grocery in Ohio), but you can make your own (see original recipe for ingredients).

Next, pour the mixture into a skillet, add your half & half, then simmer for about 5 minutes.  When done, pour mixture into a bowl and set aside.

Now add 1 tablespoon of butter to a pan and cook your chicken.  I totally forgot to cut mine up into chunks, but it was fine.

Take your pan off the heat and add in the sauce.  Simmer for about another 5 minutes.  Add in another 2 tablespoons of butter and blend in.

That's it!  This is a super simple recipe that is different from the norm.

My friend Robin is always listening to Beats Antique on Spotify, so I decided to check them out just because they have a cool name.  They would make an awesome soundtrack to this meal (can meals how soundtracks?).
Anyways, here's one of their videos.  Enjoy!
