Since I've quit my job and am at home during lunchtime now, I've found it difficult to make easy and healthy lunches (as much as I would love for PB&J to be healthy). So, I'm going to try my hand at making smoothies. Here are some that I'm going to try out and I'll let you know what my favorites are! All of these recipes are from SmoothieWeb.com, which was the best site I found for recipes.
Banana Blackberry Smoothie
Ingredients:
- 1 medium banana, peeled
- 1/2 cup blackberries
- 1/2 cup non-fat vanilla yogurt
- 1/2 cup ice cubes
Preparation:
1. Place all four ingredients into the blender. Blend on high for
about 15 seconds, or until it is creamy and smooth! Serve immediately.
Banana Peanut Butter Smoothie

- 8 oz skim milk
- 1/3 small banana
- 1 tbsp reduced fat peanut butter
- 2 sweet n’ low or other sugar substitute
- 5 ice cubes
Preparation:
In blender combine milk, banana, peanut butter and sweet n’ low. Add ice cubes and pulse.
Frozen Blueberry Smoothie

Lime Smoothie
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup lime (sliced)
- 3/4 cup low-fat milk
- 1 cup lime sherbet (can be light or low fat)
- 1/2 cup raspberries
- 2 cups ice
You can substitute key lime yogurt for the sherbet for a smoother, albeit, slightly different taste.
Peachy Keen Smoothie
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of sliced peaches
- 1/2 cup of fat free milk (or 1/4 fat free milk and 1/4 soy milk)
- 1 cup lowfat peach yogurt
- 2 cups of ice
- Dash of nutmeg
Non-dairy Strawberry Smoothie
Ingredients:
- 1 cup strawberries
- 1/4 cup water
- 4 ice cubes
- 1 Tbsp honey
Preparation:
- Add the water and strawberries to the blender first.
- Then pour in the honey and lastly add the ice cubers.
- Blend on low and gradually move to high until everything is a red fruity liquid.
- Then blend on high for another 30 seconds to aerate.
- Enjoy your non-dairy strawberry smoothie.
Those sound good (especially the peach!). I also really like orange smoothies with a bit of carrot juice.
ReplyDeleteI almost always add a bit of v8 splash to my smoothies, since it gives me both a serving of fruit and veggies. Yum!
