A lot of times when I'm reading a blog, I can't help but want to know more about the person writing it. Where do they work? What was their past like? How did they get to where they are now? Not that it's any of my business, and maybe I'm just being nosy, but the more I know about a blogger, the more connected I feel. So today I'm going to share a little bit more about myself...
I lived in Florence, Alabama for the first 21 or so years of my life. It's a fairly small college town with the University of North Alabama (where my dad teaches Biology, where I got my undergrad, and where I'm getting my Masters). I did my internship for my undergrad at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex in Birmingham, Alabama and ended up getting a job and working there as the Assistant Box Office Manager for about 5 years. I then moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to be the Box Office Manager of the new Tuscaloosa Amphitheater. I did that for about a year and decided that I wanted to get my Masters in Business and so I quit my job and we moved back to Birmingham.
I would love to say that my career gave me that chance to hang out with rock stars all day, but it was much less glamorous. When you work in the entertainment industry, you get very jaded very fast. It's long hours, high stress, and not so great pay. Of course that can be said for a lot of jobs, but I decided it just wasn't what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. I still love being involved in the industry from time to time (great people to work with), but it's like a breath of fresh air to get away from it.
So now I'm a full time grad school student working towards my Masters in Business. I hope that once I'm done I will be able to teach adjunct at the college level. My husband and I want to move to Nashville to be closer to his family, and we also want to open up our own vintage store. They seem like pretty ambitious plans, but I'd rather try and fail than to never try at all.
I'm considered to by shy. I used to have social anxiety, and I probably still do, but I've pretty much gotten over any "fears" I have talking to someone. I just tend to not say a lot when I'm around people. If someone engages me in conversation, I'll talk, but I'm more of a listener. I tend to not put myself in social situations in the first place and I'm more of a homebody.
I'm an only child. I didn't grow up near my extended family either, so I think this is one of the reasons I'm looking forward to moving closer to my in-laws.
I'm not very healthy. I would like to be, but let's face it, I couldn't run a mile if someone was chasing me with a knife. My eating habits aren't horrible, but I've got to start exercising. I don't care about what the scale says, but I need to get my body stronger.
I'll save my husband and I's story for Saturday, since it's our 5 year wedding anniversary. I don't want to bore you with the same story twice!
Ok enough about me for one day! I hope this gives you a little more insight into my life and please feel free to ask me any questions that might be lingering on your brain!
I would love it if you all would share a little about your history. But please, don't share anything you're not comfortable with (remember, once you put it on the internet it's there forever!). If you do decide to share, I would love for you to send me a link so I can learn a little more about you!
