Getting healthy...or not?

One of my big goals for this year is to get healthy.  Not just to lose weight, but really start living a better lifestyle.  Well, I'm not doing such a great job.  I started off good by doing the P90x workout.  But then my grandmother got sick and passed away.  Ever since she got sick I haven't been taking care of myself.  I mean, seeing her in the hospital should make me want to get healthy, but it just makes me want to eat a cupcake.

And here it is.  Lavender frosting and dark chocolate cake.  Some wonderful/horrible person brought them to work today.  It was good too (the other half of it is waiting on my desk for breakfast).  I'm just so stressed out and down that I have no motivation to take care of myself.

I've got this poster in my kitchen.  You would think that would give me a kick in the rear, but it's not.  The stupid thing is that the more I think about not being healthy the worse I feel and the less I want to do anything about it.  Ahhh!!!  OK so I am going through a rough patch, but I am going to get healthy.  Once we move back to our other house, I'm planning dog walks, detox sessions, yoga, and healthy meals.  I just need to lay off the cupcakes before I gain another 30 pounds.
I know I'm not the only one who has been through this struggle to get healthy.  Anyone have any tips on getting over this hurdle?

  1. I've been trying to get healthy for years, about 3 to be exact, things have finally clicked since January. I have found setting specific goals, using a program to track calories and workouts and updating progress on my blog has kept me super motivated and successful. You can do it and the biggest thing is to not beat yourself up over having a cupcake! Esp. given your recent circumstances, loosing a loved one is absolutely a free pass for a little emotional eating! And I love your poster...the one in my kitchen is a little more crude (Dear Fat, Get the F&*k out of my body). Anywho, at least you are making the effort and that's the first step! Xo Lori

  2. Thanks Lori. I'm glad it's starting to click for you. I know it will for me too, but it's so hard to get the ball rolling. I've just decided that it's not really an option anymore. I want live a happy and healthy life, and I will gosh darn-it!!!

I love your comments! I read each and every one and it really means a lot to me when people take the time to read my little blog. So please comment away! =)
